Ontario NDP marks Yom Kippur

TORONTO — Ontario NDP Leader Peter Tabuns and Jill Andrew, NDP critic for Culture and Heritage, released the following statement as Jewish communities prepare for the start of Yom Kippur:

"We extend our best wishes to the Jewish community for a meaningful and fulfilling Yom Kippur.

One of the holiest days in the Jewish calendar, Yom Kippur is a time for inner reflection, atonement and forgiveness. It is also a day to unite with your family and loved ones for a chance to renew hope for a better and brighter future for yourself, close ones, and all persons and living beings that exist on Earth alongside us. We’re inspired by the spirit and message of this holy time — a time to recommit to living with compassion, kindness and empathy for all.
